A different world in learning: ChatGPT

As people living in 21st century, we witness new changes entering our lives every day. Undoubtedly, the most obvious example of these changes is technology. Most of us agree that technology is the most important source of information. Being able to find anything that comes to mind within minutes is the most concrete indicator of this. What would you think if I said that one of the most important things that technology has added to our lives lately? My answer would be a virtual assistant, which came into my life recently but made my job much easier.

Since my major is language learning and teaching, I always dreamed of an application where I could ask my questions every day and access countless information including even how to pronunciate a word, but I was unaware of the existence of a virtual assistant that would provide this to me in minutes. Until I met ChatGPT very recently...

Even when you ask ChatGPT what you are and capable of, you receive a respond from it:

"ChatGPT is a large language model created by OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research organization. It is one of the most advanced language models in the world, capable of understanding and generating human-like responses to natural language inputs.

GPT stands for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer", which refers to the architecture of the model. It was trained on a large corpus of text data from the internet, allowing it to learn the patterns and structures of human language.

ChatGPT is designed to assist users with a wide range of tasks, from answering questions and providing information to carrying out simple conversations. Its responses are generated based on the input it receives and the patterns it has learned from its training data, and it can generate a variety of different types of responses, from factual answers to creative writing prompts.

Overall, ChatGPT is a powerful tool that can help users with a variety of language-related tasks, and it represents a significant breakthrough in the field of natural language processing and artificial intelligence."

I have to say that it is a very well designed app where you can get great answers when you ask properly. It can come to help you when you need urgent information. You can even ask it to write an article or any text you want to write. You can create a new article based on the article it wrote and thus you can even produce different content of your own.

As such assistants can help, of course, they can also do us some harm. This may vary from person to person, but there is still something that everyone should pay attention to. Technology should definitely take its place in our lives with the ease it has and offers to us because nowadays it would be a bit of an oddness to use traditional learning or teaching models when we have such easy access to information, but the most important thing we need to know when using technology is that technology is there to help us, not to take our place. If we leave everything to technology anyway and do not produce anything without going out of our comfort zone, we will not benefit from technology, but take damage.

So, we have to develop our own ideas and then enrich them with the countless possibilities that technology offers us. We should always take the help of virtual assistants like ChatGPT and enrich our knowledge and production, but we should not ignore our own ideas.
